We Are Bedford Is Dead, Long Live We Are Bedford!

Facilitated by funding from the RSA and thanks the generosity of a huge number of volunteers and the help of local businesses, We Are Bedford has transformed numerous empty shops into arts spaces and brought together our creative communities into the bargain. Recognised on a national scale, the work of We Are Bedford has changed the cultural landscape of our town.

After ‘Mail Art’, some reflections from Anne-Marie Stijelja

Giving back the keys to the shop at the end of the exhibition was difficult and a little sad, as it was the end of something so beautiful and so simple. I felt it brought so much enjoyment to people, while at the same time boosting my own confidence, leaving me with a warm feeling inside.

Drawing Room Blank copy

After ‘The Drawing Room’, some reflections from the Circus of Illustration.

The room was a shop front, so passing pedestrians would stop, and have a good look at the hustle and bustle of the spectacle inside. Some were intrigued enough to join in and find out more, others took photos. The public seemed genuinely amused with what was happening.
